I am an Associate Professor of Economics at Illinois State University, where I teach courses ranging from undergraduate principles of economics to graduate applied econometrics. I am also a founding vice-president of HAEPA, where we are building a supportive professional network for current and future scholars from the Himalayan region.

My primary research interests are in tax compliance, business taxation, and public finance in developing countries. I am also interested in topics such as sin taxes, decentralization, tax reforms, and structural reforms.

My research has been published in the Journal of Public Economics, Journal of Economic Behavior and Organization, Economic Inquiry, American Economic Association: Papers & Proceedings, Southern Economic Journal, Open Economies Review, the American Economist, and other outlets.

I am grateful to the National Science Foundation and Horowitz Foundation for Social Policy for research grants and to the Internal Revenue Service and South African Revenue Service for research collaboration and access to tax returns data.

You can find more about my research at my Google Scholar, Research Page, or Curriculum Vitae. Feel free to reach out to me, if you are interested in talking about my research or yours.
