I am an Assistant Professor in the Department of Economics at Illinois State University. My research focuses on the field of public economics, especially on tax avoidance, growth effects of tax reforms, and decentralization.
My current work focuses on:
- The economic effects of broad-based and flat-rate tax reforms
- The impact of a value-added tax on firms’ productivity, investment, and avoidance behavior
- Taxpayer responses to Form 1099-K, a novel third-party income reporting law
- The economic impact of decentralization
I am grateful to the National Science Foundation and Horowitz Foundation for Social Policy for research grants and to the Internal Revenue Service for research collaboration and access to tax returns data.
